Richard,

We are huge fans of Top Gear and of Brainiac and also your show that you presented earlier in the year at 5pm.

You are a great guy with a beautiful family and so full of life. If admiration could have stopped your terrible accident, you would never have been hurt. All the fans of Top Gear love you and your two sidekicks.

Take your time to get better. Don't worry about Top Gear - the fans will take care of that - Top Gear WILL be back and so will you.

Our very best wishes go to you for a full recovery - however long it takes.

I couldn't believe it when I heard about the accident, I have never felt more gutted about any public figure, what a relief to hear you're on the road to recovery. (no pun intended)

I can't believe the comments in some other blogs. If these people aren't entertained by top gear someone ought to remind them that no-one is forcing them to watch (how dimm are they?). I on the other hand will always watch it...and the re-runs, thanks to you, Richard it has become even more so, a truely entertaining show, and I hope we will see you again soon.

Please come back to work asap Hamster!!!! Without you, Clarkson and May will end up becoming a showcase for when 'bad hair happens to good people'!

Posted by Bernadette Williams, 28th September 2006 10:43pm

hard - no top gear!

So get well soon and I look forward to seeing you back!

Posted by Louise, 29th September 2006 11:03am

Get well soon, Richard. I am not myself a great watcher of Top Gear. But I have the greatest admiration for your courage. I was glad to see that yesterday you went to a Hospital in Clifton, Bristoland I hope to see and hear that you will make a complete recovery. You should be very proud that people have responded to your accident by subscribing enough money to buy a second Helicopter for the LGI Air Ambulance service. When you get back to work, I'll srart watching Top Gear!.

Get well soon Richard, As far as TOP GEAR is concerned its a fantastic car show and has a very different view point from any other show, but at the end of the day safety must be the top priority even when it looks what is being shown is very dangerous. Presenters are not STUNTMEN.

Posted by Steve Maunders, 2nd October 2006 8:05pm

Top Gear should be banned at all costs. It promotes extreme dangerous driving of the highest level. Why do they build cars to reach such speeds anyway?Speeding is illegal and costs thousands of lives each year. Its time to put an end to all this!

Wishing Richard all the very best for a full recovery. It would be a travisty if Top Gear was axed, we all know that calculated risks are taken, but we need people of Richard's caliber and not a furtherance of the nanny state. All safety measures should be, and I am sure were taken, but the unforseen can still happen. Richard was, and is, not stupid. Thank you Richard and Top Gear, long may you continue.

You do realise that you've left yourself wide open to critisism from ''them two''. This one is gonna be hard to live down specially since you scratched the paint!!!!! Advice, Wear your helmet when you go into work, I'll think you'll need it. DO YOU THINK YOU WERE SET UP?

Posted by David Johnson, 3rd October 2006 8:22pm

Glad to hear that you are recovering so well, hope to see you back on form soon.
