I had the same problem on 3rd February after filling up with diesel at Park Farm Tesco, Ashford and barely got the car home. Had to have the fuel filter replaced and the car was off the road for a week. Im now putting in a fuel additive each time I fill up regardless of where I fuel for the time being.

Hi C Wingrove – can you please state which Esso you refuelled at. I suspect I may be suffering from a similar problem, if it was the same Esso station we may have a stronger case.. (Although I’m still waiting for a proper diagnosis of my problem)

Excellent site!
A useful addition to the site would be a route finder combined with fuel search, therefore making it easy to find the cheapest fuel along the route, rather than a circular reference from a postcode, which could mean the cheapest fuel is miles in the wrong direction from which you usually travel!

My 4×4 Broke down last friday and was taken by lorry to a garage. A week later and my vehicle is still being put back together after having to remove the fuel tank, drain out the whole system and replace all filters and my pump!!! I use Asda and have done since purchasing this vehicle and I noticed when I put last batch of diesel in a couple days later she was sluggish, then didn’t want to start but was turning over, then by thursday was cutting out literally in the most dangerous places (I’d booked her garage for the following week) was too late she broke down in middle of temp traffic lights causing chaos and I was so upset as had my daughter in the car…. I’m not just taking this on the chin, still no car and a bill I shouldn’t be paying.

Had to get my car recovered on friday as I broke down after filling up with tesco diesel at Hampton, Peterborough. My car was 6th in the queue to have the tank drained and jets cleaned etc. the others all filled up at the same station.

Have you seen the e-mail circulating at the moment? Someone has worked out a few comparisons. e.g.
Evian (Naive spelt backwards) Water sells at £1.49 per 9 oz bottle = 21.19 per gall – for water and the buyer doesn’t know the source of it! and Printer ink – wait for it – £5,200.00 per gall. Loads of other examples of such rip off prices. So, is Petrol that overpriced? Yes, I agree really, it is.
