Motorcycle Breakdown Cover
Breaking down in any vehicle can be a stressful experience. Breaking down on a motorbike with no shelter in a unfamiliar place can be very unpleasant. Therefore you want to make sure that the breakdown cover you get is worth the money you pay for it. With an increase in the number of motorcycles on the roads, many different breakdown providers now offer breakdown assistance especially for motorbikes.
What to look for?
- Being recovered quickly may be a top priority for you as a motorcyclist. You don't want to be stuck out in the cold waiting for ages. As a motorcyclist you will only be given priority if you are in immediate danger. However, average response times are around 40 minutes. Some providers offer a guarantee if they take longer than one hour.
- Who's covered - if you are the only person to drive your motorbike then you should consider getting vehicle cover as it is normally cheaper. However, if you drive other motorbikes then you may wish to get breakdown cover for yourself. This will cover you when driving any vehicle.
What's not covered!
- It is important to check that your provider will cover your motorbike. Most providers only cover motorbikes with engines bigger than 50cc.
- Make sure you are covered for where you are driving. Channel Islands and Isle of Man may not be covered. Any recovery after an accident is not covered. It may be requested, but you will have to pay for the cost of the call-out.
Helmet & Leathers Insurance
Whilst thinking about breakdown cover, make sure you are covered for damage to helmet, leathers and protective clothing. Bennetts are offering helmet and leathers insurance for only £48, when you take out a bike insurance policy with them.
