Who are the people behind PetrolPrices.com?The people behind the site are Fubra, a leading price comparison company whose aim is to develop websites which help people save money and find information easily. Fubra's last major website launch was OurProperty, where users can search prices paid for properties, free of charge.
When did you start this website?
The idea for this website was developed in September 2005 when petrol prices were once more at the forefront of the news after hurricane Katrina led to rising oil prices which then pushed UK petrol prices up to an all time high.
Why did you start this website?
With petrol prices forever going up, we thought it was time for the consumer to have more power to make informed decisions on where to buy their fuel. In our local town, petrol stations prices differed by up to 6 pence per litre and compared to other local towns it was 9 pence. We want to bring down the cost of motoring and to start with, there are significant savings to be made by 'shopping around' for fuel.
Are you backed by a petrol station brand?
No, we are completely independent and have no backing from any petrol station brand.
Why do you give away prices for free?
We want to provide the best possible service in everything we do and that means value-for-money as well as quality of service. So, what better value than free?! By providing free, impartial information, we are one company in the motoring trade that you can trust.
