Petrol Prices website experiences record traffic numbers

14th July 2006

ALDERSHOT, UK (Petrolprices.com) Traffic to PetrolPrices.com has rocketed this week amid rising oil prices and concerns pump prices could soon hit £1 a litre due to the upsurge in unrest in the Middle East.

The web site where motorists can enter their postcode and find the cheapest fuel in their chosen area for free has recorded an increase in traffic of over 43% this week as worried consumers look for a way to avoid the high prices at the pumps.

The site which sends free email alerts with the cheapest petrol nearby now has a staggering 500,000 people logging on regularly to save on the price they are paying at the pump.

One web site visitor commented "I have found my self using your site more and more recently, you provide a great service but can you help further by lobbying the government to reduce fuel duty and give us all a break these prices are ridiculous"

Brendan McLoughlin. Co-founder of the site added "It tends to take a few weeks for oil prices to filter through to the pumps. Unfortunately that means we are expecting steep rises in the next few weeks."

The cheapest unleaded in the country is now 92.9p and the most expensive is 105.9p with this huge 13p spread consumers are saving on average 6p a litre by using the site because of local price differences which adds up to over £100 a year.
