And we show the data in PetrolPrices – better data for you, more savings in your pocket.

More Information on Fuel Finder

The Fuel Finder Scheme is a mandatory UK Government initiative that will provide drivers with live updates on petrol and diesel prices at the 8,300+ petrol filling stations across the UK.

Fuel Finder will give you and drivers across the country a clear, up-to-date view of fuel prices, making it easier to compare nearby stations and save money when choosing where to refuel.

Does PetrolPrices use the Fuel Finder data?

As the UK’s leading app and website for saving money on petrol and diesel, PetrolPrices has been working with the UK government and the CMA since 2023 to ensure the scheme works for consumers.

PetrolPrices does use the Fuel Finder data in our Mobile App, Web App and our Price Alert email service along side other sources of data.

As of April 2026 the Fuel Finder data is not live across all UK stations and we’re not willing to compromise our service to you by exclusively using this data (yet.)

How can I tell if a price is from Fuel Finder?

You’ll be able to see the source of the data in the Mobile App and Web App under the Fuel Finder username.

What if a station or price is missing?

Fuel Finder shows the data that’s been made available through the official scheme. It’s the UK Government and CMA’s responsibility to ensure fuel stations are registered and compliant, and we simply display the information we receive.

If you have any questions email us at: [email protected].

What if I see a wrong price?

If you see an incorrect price from the Fuel Finder data source you can report that to PetrolPrices via. our Mobile App. Simply log in or create an account, and click Report Prices to Update the price.

Where we can, we will share information with the Fuel Finder scheme, as it is in our interest to ensure you receive the best experience and data with us. If you wish to recieve a follow up on reporting incorrect prices contact the team at [email protected].

Is there an official Fuel Finder app or website?

No. The data is open, meaning third parties (apps, websites, satnavs) use it to create services for consumers.

Do retailers have to confirm their prices?

No. Retailers only need to report when prices change – not confirm that prices remain the same.

What fuel types are included?

The scheme covers six fuel types, including petrol, diesel variants, and alternative fuels like HVO.

Why might some prices appear “old”?

If a price shows as “1–2 days old,” it usually means the price hasn’t changed since then, not that the data is wrong.

FAQs about Fuel Finder

Will it save me money?

By providing more accurate and up-to-date fuel prices, PetrolPrices using Fuel Finder data makes it easier to compare nearby stations and choose the best value before you refuel.

This helps drivers avoid overpaying and make more informed decisions about where and when to fill up.

What is the Legal Framework?

The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 (the DUA Act), which received Royal Assent in June 2025, provides the legislative basis for establishing what is now called Fuel Finder. While the government establishes Fuel Finder, the CMA has established the rules for an interim voluntary open data pricing scheme.

The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 (DMCC Act) received Royal Assent and gave the CMA statutory information-gathering powers to undertake its monitoring function.

Why has Fuel Finder been set up?

In 2023, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) published the final report of its Road Fuel Market Study. The study concluded that fuel margins had outpaced fuel prices between 2019 and 2023 and examined ways to improve competition and benefit consumers. The two main recommendations to the UK government from the study were:

  • The introduction of a new scheme to publish fuel prices in order to give drivers access to live, station-by-station fuel prices
  • Establishing a road fuel price monitoring function to hold the industry accountable
